The point where Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay meet, seen at sunset. We take you there in the late afternoon and pick you up after the evening show.
The Triple Frontier Landmark, known locally as the Marco das Três Fronteiras, stands where the Iguaçu River flows into the Paraná River, about 7 km from downtown Foz do Iguaçu. From there you can see Argentina and Paraguay at the same time, each with its own border marker painted in the national colours.
On the Brazilian side there is a green and yellow obelisk, viewpoints over the rivers, squares, restaurants, a souvenir shop and a themed village inspired by the Jesuit missions. The sign with the names of the three countries is one of the most photographed spots in Foz, and sometimes has a queue.
It is a short, easy outing, perfect to end a day at the falls or Itaipu, or to enjoy on your first evening in town.
The landmark is nice during the day but far better in the late afternoon. The sun sets over the Paraná River, on the Paraguayan side, and the sky often turns orange and pink.
We suggest arriving around 5 pm. That gives you time to enjoy the afternoon light, visit the viewpoints before the crowds and find a good spot before the area fills up. On weekends and holidays, arriving early matters even more.
Sunset time changes a lot through the year: before 6 pm in winter and close to 7:30 pm in summer. When you book, we set the pick-up time according to your date.
After dark, the obelisk is lit in colour and surrounded by dancing fountains. The main attraction is the cultural show, which usually starts around 7:30 pm and features traditional music and dance from the three countries, from Argentine tango to Brazilian samba.
The show is split into parts with breaks, and the performances do not repeat, so stay until the end to see everything. Allow two and a half to three hours in total, from sunset to the end of the show.
Entry to the landmark is paid, and tickets are sold on site or online. Prices change with the season.
We pick you up at your hotel at the agreed time, take you to the entrance and wait until the programme ends. When the show is over, the car is ready to take you back to your hotel or on to a restaurant for dinner.
This matters more than it seems. When the show ends, many people leave at once, and getting a ride-hailing car in this area can take a while. With a pre-booked transfer, you are not left waiting in the dark.
We also serve groups and families with a 7-seat vehicle, priced per car rather than per person.
Arriving in Foz that same afternoon? The landmark is a great first outing. We can go straight from the airport, keep your luggage in the boot during the visit and drop you at your hotel after the show.
