Itaipu Binacional is a hydroelectric dam built jointly by Brazil and Paraguay on the Paraná River. It is one of the largest power plants in the world by energy production, and the scale is hard to grasp until you stand next to it: a wall of concrete and steel stretching for kilometres, with a reservoir behind it that looks more like a sea than a lake.
Even travellers with no interest in engineering usually leave impressed. The visit tells the story of how two countries built the project together, and the views over the dam and the reservoir are spectacular, especially on a clear day.
It is also an easy half-day trip. The visitor centre is a short drive north of downtown Foz do Iguaçu, so it fits well on the same day as the Triple Frontier Landmark or a city tour.

You tell us your hotel and the time of your tour, and we plan the pick-up so you arrive with time to spare. The driver takes you to the visitor centre, waits while you do the tour and drives you back to your hotel, or on to your next stop.
The price is agreed before the trip and includes the waiting time. There is no meter running while you are inside the dam, and you do not have to look for a taxi when the tour finishes.
Bags and shopping can stay in the car during the visit. If you are coming straight from the airport or heading there afterwards, we can combine the trips.

We use executive sedans and SUVs with air conditioning, and a 7-seat vehicle for larger families and groups. The price is per vehicle, not per person, so sharing the car with your group keeps the cost down.
